The task at hand was to breathe new life into an abandoned factory, reimagining it as a modern office space for IOA. This ambitious project aims to seamlessly blend the factory's industrial heritage with contemporary design elements, creating an environment that inspires innovation and collaboration. The design will prioritize functionality, with carefully curated zones for work, meetings, and relaxation, all while maximizing the natural light and space afforded by the factory's expansive layout.
In the essence of preserving what was already occurring on the exterior of the building, the wild vegetation grew freely and began to take over the site, while the strong and vibrant building of Frank Murphy stood strong still to this day. I wanted to take this interesting dynamic of creating a space that stood strong while contrasting it with the nature of life, creeping in and slowly taking over and inhabiting the space.

PLANS
The Basement Floor aims to bring the natural aspect of the building surroundings into the interior. The garden space offers a change of scenery to the workers.
The aim is for workers to be able to change their work environment scenery, therefore hopefully decreasing work fatigue.

Basement Floor Plan

The Ground Floor acts as the entrance to the Office Building, as well as holding a cafe shop.
The entrance to the office allows a view of the open interior garden space making it an exciting destination.
The cafe space open to the public allows for a less enclosed and secluded working environment to be created.
Ground Floor Plan
The first floor is based on a hierarchal work environment and holds the offices of the directors and the C.E.O.
However, creating an interesting space with the garden environment in the basement forms the idea of exploring the lower spaces and encourages interaction with other workers.
